It is on Cal. 140 that runs east west from Merced to Yosemite. We usually camp but there is some hotels and motels in Mariposa. An interesting 49er mining museum is there also. A really nice alternative is to come into Yosemite on Cal. 41 from Fresno. The entrance from Cal 41 is very dramatic. I've had friends drive and extra 3 hours from San Francisco to show their friends the park from that entrance. There is also a nice historic hotel at Wawona on that route. The Wawona Hotel of course.
